Jean-Christophe Avarre

Jean-Christophe Avarre is a molecular biologist with a strong experience in molecular physiology and microbial diagnostics. He is presently Deputy Director of the Institute of Evolutionary Sciences of Montpellier (France) and belongs to a team called DIVA (Fish Diversity and Aquaculture). His research activities are mainly focused on the detection, molecular evolution and characterization of major aquaculture pathogens. He has been working for a biotech company where he participated in the conception and validation of innovative solutions for genomic and diagnostic applications. Attracted by new technologies, he spends part of his research time developing methods to improve the detection and identification of microorganisms.
